As you can see in the news, Feast of the Black Nazarene really hit the headlines. Well, from time to time we receive update about it. To have so much crowd for a special day, I won’t disagree about making this one of the Guinness World Record.
I’m really impressed that many devotees are putting their life on the line despite the fact that there could be danger in attending the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo Church. There’s a swarm of crowd that wants to get near the dark-coloured Jesus Christ image which was sculpted way back from Mexico. But to protect the centuries old image, they made a replica to be used during the procession every January 9 for the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
I believe that there is really a miracle about the touching of the image. But if you look into it, death awaits you if you get caught by the stampede. Now for me, I want to become a devotee celebrating the Feast where there’s no risk to life. How about you just come early to Quiapo, see/touch the image, attend the mass, and then go home after. Be satisfied with that if you think your body can’t handle what awaits you in the middle of the crowd(especially when you are near the image).
Let’s think of the body that has been given to us by God. I know that God will understand us if we choose the safer way to celebrate the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
